Bird Recipes

Delicious treats for your Parrot Friends

These are some of the recipes we a have found or created that our birds like. We hope to keep adding to this. If you have a favorite you wish to share, please e-mail us and we will try it out and see if we can publish it on our site.

When cooking for your parrot, don’t limit yourself. Be creative. For example we usually have several kinds of birdie bread in the freezer that we started with the same base, but added different items. We try to satisfy different tastes, add interest and serve as different meals. We’ve added oatmeal, peanut butter, Grape Nuts, and frozen fruits for breakfast bread. We’ve added chicken stew baby food, legumes and frozen veggies for an evening meal. Try different grains and baby foods for moisture and flavor. You can sprinkle slivered almonds on top, or mix some sunflower seeds inside. We also like to find natural wild rice muffin mixes to use as a base, and add to it for a great meal. Just always spray your pan with Pam, and bake at approximately 350 degrees til lightly brown. They usually take us about 30 minutes.

The important thing to remember is to keep your bird’s nutrition in mind. Avoid adding salt and sugar. Watch for fats for your pudgy birds. Food high in vitamins A & D are important, such as yams and sweet potatoes. Please look at our nutrition segment for more guidelines on feeding your parrot.
